Fifth grade curriculum that invites students to reflect, research, and take ownership.

Fifth grade is a year of increasing independence and intellectual curiosity. Oak Meadow’s curriculum supports students with subject-specific coursebooks in English, Social Studies, Science, and Math—each designed to build confidence, critical thinking, and expressive skill.
This is the year students begin essay writing and research, explore early American history through biographies, and dive into environmental science and energy systems. With a blend of reading, writing, experimentation, and hands-on projects, each subject supports meaningful, developmentally-appropriate learning.
Assignments include letter writing, model building, speeches, and research projects—giving students opportunities to express their ideas, reflect on their learning, and build real-world academic skills.
