In the early grades, students use main lesson books (MLBs) as a learning tool as well as documentation of their work. The spiral-bound books of blank pages become filled with the student’s drawings and writing, which constitute most of the lesson work, especially in kindergarten to grade 4. The creation of a main lesson book nurtures qualities of thoughtfulness, intention, perseverance, and creativity. It becomes a showcase of the student’s work as well as a cherished keepsake. Watch this slideshow to learn how and why we use this approach, along with beautiful examples of MLB pages from Oak Meadow students. Even more about MLBs.
