SCHOOL: HOW TO ENROLL

The Enrollment Process

Enrollment in Oak Meadow School is a choice for families who want full academic credit and the support of a teacher during their children's educational journey. With enrollment, you combine the benefits of learning within the home environment with the support of an accredited school program.

To begin the enrollment process, please call our offices to speak with an enrollment counselor.

We are available 9:00-5:00 (Eastern Standard Time) and can be reached at 802-251-7250.

With all new families, we review the role of the Oak Meadow teacher, your role as the Home Teacher, what you can expect in the Welcome Packet, and the ways in which the office can assist you through the year. Distance learning is a unique form of education, and we want to make sure everyone gets off to the best start in their Oak Meadow experience.

Beginning in September of the 2009-2010 school year, we are offering First Monday Start Dates for every month of the year. In this new program, students in all grades and high school courses will begin their Oak Meadow school year on the same day with a group of students. This new program will enable a wide range of benefits: teachers will engage their students as a class moving through the curriculum at the same pace; students will be able to interact and collaborate on projects; and parents will be able to offer mutual support and inspiration as the school year progresses. We will be using our secure online community Live Oak as a way to build connections between teachers and families. We are very excited about the possibilites of this new program, and we hope you will consider joining!

For families electing not to enroll on a First Monday schedule, most enrollments can be processed within one week, and students can begin sending lessons to their teacher on their start date. We offer open enrollment, so each family is able to choose a start date for the ten month enrollment period, giving you the flexibility to craft a school year schedule that works best for you.

Oak Meadow is an approved Vermont Independent School and has been fully accredited by the Commission on International and Trans-regional Accreditation since 2002. In 2008 we successfully completed the reaccreditation process with CITA, which has reciprocal agreements with the Middle States and Southern States accrediting bodies, among others. Verification of Enrollment

Enrolling your children in Oak Meadow School may eliminate the need for you to file an "intent to home school" with your state. Upon enrollment, we provide a dated Verification of Enrollment document for you to keep with your child's academic records. We recommend checking regularly with your local Department of Education or school district regarding local laws and distance learning regulations.
